Description of Work

In 2017 to 2020, I was a contract Photographer with National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) Office of Photo & Media. I provided digital imaging services––such as cultural heritage photography of museum collections according to FADGI (Federal Agencies Digital Guidelines Initiative) and AIC (American Institute for Conservation) guidelines, exhibition photography, documentation photography, conservation treatment photography, event photography, and portraiture of museum staff for uses such as scientific publications and research, archival and collections records, editorials, publicity, websites and social media, and educational programming, and as requested by Smithsonian and external clients.

Main Project

Lead Photographer for the Deep Time exhibit at NMNH:

  • Publication-quality specimen photography for “Smithsonian Dinosaurs and Other Amazing Creatures from Deep Time” book by Blake Edgar, based on David H. Koch Hall of Fossils ––Deep Time exhibition materials, Published by Smithsonian Books.

  • Museum collection photography of Deep Time specimens (300+ specimens photographed prior to re-installation in the exhibit).

  • Exhibition photography for press releases, social media, announcement of hall’s opening, etc.

  • Photo documentation of museum staff and external contractors installing specimens in the exhibit.

  • Behind-the-scenes documentation of staff working on specimens in the Vertebrate Paleontology Preparation Lab to be installed in the fossil hall.

  • Construction behind-the-scenes documentation in the fossil hall throughout its renovation process.
